MY SENSE OF PLACE

Finally wrapping up this blog with my sense of place and what it now means to me after these past few months. Sense of place is how you feel in your town, home or location. Its what stands out and makes the town unique that sense of place comes in. The town of Salem, the place where I have spent almost all of my time this past semester. I have learned so many new things about the world and how I view it in this class than I have my whole life. I see Salem as a completely new wonderful place nothing like my hometown in the south shore. There was never any traffic, big buildings or even an ocean. It was just a town that had a mall and some restaurants. Thats all. Now comparing it to Salem is crazy. Salem has everything and anything you need all wrapped up into a small city.

This is a picture of one of my favorite adventures I had in Salem at the farmers market! I got a free pumpkin from Heavens Harvest Farm!
Another one of my favorite adventures I had was with my Triad group. We originally planned on going to the wax museum but unfortunatley it was closed so we went to the witch museum instead. I made two great friends during this adventure and I also learned so many new things about the witch trials.

My sense of place in SSU is my dorm room, the library and the bridge. It all makes me feel so happy and welcomed, it really is like my second home. I feel safe and happy whenever I am here and id honestly rather be here than in Hanover!

This pic was taken at the library with two of my great friends. We were studying in a place that I had just found that same day while we toured the library during class! Its a great spot.

Finally, to conclude on my sense of place, I am happy. I am happy with this town and all it offers and this class really brought out my inner self and how I feel about my sense of place in Salem. I love being here and our class really made me view everything so differently.

College Events!

A college wide event that I have attended this year at SSU was one of the Thursday night parties at south campus! A couple of friends of mine decided we should all go down and see what happens every Thursday! It was only $5 too so it was definatley worth it. It was a lot of dancing and eating food with all of our friends. Eventually we decided to start our own dance circle and we kept throwing random people in the middle to dance with each other which was hilarious. Unfortunately, some of my friend complained about it being boring and wanted o leave early. We ended up walking back to our dorms in the cold at 2 AM! It was the coldest walk ive ever done in my life and I had shorts on which made it 10000 times worse. Other than that, the place was really fun and the DJ played awesome music that everyone loved. Some of my favorite songs were played and surprisingly everyone knew them. It mad me feel like I belonged because I thought I was like the only person who listened to that type of music.

Thanksgiving!

Every year for thanksgiving, me and my dads side of the family head up to Beverly to hangout with my cousins! What was crazy about it this year was that I was just in Beverly the day before because I go to college in Salem now! Whats important to me about this place is that ive gone there my entire life and I get to see all of my favorite aunts and uncles. They live in an extremely nice house with a cool pool and a really nice fireplace. Once dinner is ready we get up and go eat in the dining room which always has our name tags.

Our traditions include saying grace, having name tags and always making the best hams. We always share the holiday with my uncle johns family, uncle richie, Nana, Jay, and my cousins! The meaning of thanksgiving to me is meeting up with all of my family who I rarely see and eat the best ham and turkey ever!

I loved the park and the outdoors its a great feature of Salem
This park is beautiful and it really brings a great feeling to the town of Salem. Something so close to me that I can go to whenever I want is awesome and helps my sense of place.

Panel and Advising!

At the panel we learned about so much new things that are very important to freshman and new students! I learned about new things like meeting my advisor and signing up for class. The biggest thing that stuck out to me was learning about dorms in the future!
I just met up with my advisor on Friday. She gave me tips on classes and everything that will affect my major.

FARMERS MARKET

FARMERS MARKET

This Thursday me and my friends went down town to the farmers market! Unfortunately my farm I was cancelled due to the owner having the flu. Instead we looked around found a bunch of awesome little farms.
We even helped a farm get set up and they gave us free pumpkins! There farm was called Heavens Harvest Farm. They also gave us free tomatoes and they were super good!

Library Adventure

This weeks class dealt with exploring the library with Jason Soohoo! We went through the first three floors of the library and talked about all the cool functions it serves. My favorite part of the library are the conference rooms. My friends and I always do work together in there late at night! He even showed me a new spot in here with comfy couches. That's where I am right now!

Jason taught us so much valuable info on the database! And the map works survey we did was awesome!! I already won a free beanie!
